Earth Day - Annual Laurelwood Subdivision Cleanup - 2023
2The Laurelwood Homeowners Association is again planning a volunteer commons and creek clean up to commemorate Earth Day. It will take place on Saturday April 22, 2023. Please plan to join in. We will meet at the bridge at 9:00 am and is expected to be finished by 11:30 am. Refreshments will be provided.
The objective is to improve the appearance of the commons and the area bordering our subdivision (i.e. along John R and Long Lake).

If you have a student looking for National Honor Society credits we can sign off on their time spent on this worthwhile community activity. A great project for Scouts too.
Please give serious consideration to volunteering for this project. It should be fun for the whole family and will demonstrate our commitment to taking care of our neighborhood and planet.

- Picking up paper, plastic bags, bottles and cans and other trash that accumulated over the winter. Garbage bags will be provided.
- Pick up limbs, sticks and leaves and trim tree branches so the grass can be easily mowed. Compost bags and twine will be provided.
- Clean up storm damage.
- Clear drains of debris.
- Move filled garbage and compost bags to a convenient point where they can be loaded into a vehicle.
- Weed and mulch bridge and iris gardens.
- Attempt to reduce the creek bank erosion by planting wildflower seeds.
Things to bring:
- a rake
- lopping shears
- clippers
- gloves and waterproof footwear are always recommended
